Onuora Amobi
My name is Onuora Amobi. I am Nigerian. I grew up in Lagos Nigeria. I went to Primary School in Staff School Unilag. I then briefly went to school in South Harrow (the UK), couldn't stand it and came home to Kings College Lagos (KCOB baby!!, Floreat!) I came to the United States in 1990 and attended Drexel University Philadelphia. I graduated with a degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing. After I graduated, I got a job with Deloitte and Touche and spent a year working out of the Deloitte offices in Philadelphia. I have always been more of a west coast person and so I promptly moved to the West Coast (California). I lived in Newport Beach California for a few years and after a while, the Dot Com temptation became overwhelming and I moved up to Northern California. I currently reside in Northern California (San Francisco) and for my day job I work with PeopleSoft products as an Information Security specialist.
I fell in love with html a couple of years ago and started putting websites together in my spare time. I started with an immigration website (http://www.usvisarequirement). I learned from that site (250 visitors a day) and built another one (http://www.adultsdatingonline.com). I learned some more from that, perfected my skills and built my third site and my baby (http://www.PeopleSoft-Planet.com). Since I obviously love doing this, I decided to put together a repository of all things Nigerian in an easy to follow, well built and frequently updated website. Here we are. I love my country for one million and one reasons. No one can ever fully describe what it's like to be Nigerian but it's who I am and it's what has shaped my character and personality. Nigerians are for the most part proud of their country, proud of their heritage, loud and generally have no self esteem issues. Most Nigerians have reverse self esteem issues, they think they are the greatest thing to walk the planet! (Well, we are.. come on..). Nigerians have been blessed with a heritage. We know where we are from, accept our flaws and keep on ticking. The Nigerian people have lived under dictatorships, oppression and hell for years and have still kept ticking. I am very encouraged by the new debt reduction developments that have occurred under the leadership of President Olusegun Obasanjo. Whatever you think about the President, I believe the debt reduction/removal has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest leaders the country has ever seen. Period. In addition, I believe that Nigeria is primed for an extremely exciting Information technology expansion, the likes of which we have not seen before. It's going to be exciting and I will discuss recent developments here on the site and in the monthly newsletter. Well, that's it for now. My life in a nutshell. My resume is
attached for your viewing pleasure. If you have any feedback or you're a Nigerian and wanna holla back, go to my contact page. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
